First Day of Kindergarden in Gaza!

At our #FeetontheGround Mission in Gaza, SSVM Missions is thrilled to be able to support a new kindergarden, which opened in September 2026!

Despite the widespread destruction in Gaza, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has sponsored the opening of a new school for young children.

the Latin Patriarchate has rented a large house in the area, which had not been completely destroyed by the constant bombing, and has restored it to house the school.

On the first day of school, there were 189 children, divided into 3-year old, pre-school, and kindergarden classes.

In the face of so much war and destruction, it is a great joy to give our children the gift of normalcy, of a stable environment, where they can learn and grow.

The school will also be a great source of hope for the children and their parents, as it points towards a future that is brighter than their troubled present.

This is the work of the Feet on the Ground Project: to stand day-by-day beside those who suffer in situations of poverty, war, and discrimination, to be a voice of hope for the despairing and joy for the desolate.

Thanks to the selfless leadership of Fr. Gabriel Romanelli and the generosity of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem for making this great work possible!
